Ardella 1 Light Circular Alabaster Table Lamp - Brass & Soft White

The Ardella is a 620mm table lamp built around an open circular ring carved from natural Spanish alabaster, set on a rectangular alabaster plinth and topped with a brass stem and a white rectangular tapered shade. A single E27 lamp socket sits inside the shade, casting light downward across the alabaster ring and outward through the fabric.

Designed for console tables, sideboards, bedside tables and entrance hall surfaces, the Ardella works well in pairs flanking a sofa or either side of a bed. The 380mm length and 250mm width give the lamp a generous footprint that suits surfaces 400mm deep or more, while the 620mm overall height places the shade at a comfortable level for ambient and reading light beside seated furniture.

Each alabaster ring shows different mineral veining, soft grey-brown shading and tonal variation depending on the section of stone it was cut from, so no two lamps look identical. The open centre of the ring becomes a deliberate negative-space detail, lightening what would otherwise be a solid block of stone. Brass detailing at the stem and finial provides warm contrast against the cool white of the alabaster and the crisp matt finish of the shade.

What bulb does the Ardella take?

The lamp uses a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. A warm-white LED of 6-10W at 2700K-3000K pairs well with the alabaster and brass, giving a soft ambient glow rather than cool bright task light.

Does the alabaster vary between pieces?

Yes. Each ring is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so veining, tonal variation and the placement of grey-brown markings differ between individual lamps. This is a feature of the natural stone, not a defect.

Where does the Ardella suit best?

The 380mm x 250mm footprint and 620mm height make it well-suited to console tables, sideboards, bedside tables and hallway surfaces with at least 400mm of depth. It also works in pairs either side of a sofa or bed for symmetrical lighting.

How is the alabaster cleaned?

Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. For more stubborn marks a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the stone and do not use household sprays, polishes or chemical cleaners.
