Astra 1 Light Alabaster Pendant Light - Soft White & Brushed Brass

The Astra is a single-light pendant built around a 150mm globe of natural Spanish alabaster, suspended from a brushed brass cap and slim brass stem on a black fabric flex. The shade takes a single G9 lamp (sold separately) and the alabaster itself acts as the diffuser, softening the light into an even, low-glare wash through the stone.

The compact globe and slim suspension suit a wide range of positions: above bedside tables in a pair, hung in threes or fives along a kitchen island, dropped over a console or hallway niche, or used singly as a reading light beside an armchair. The pendant fits standard UK ceiling roses, and the cable can be shortened on installation to set the drop at the height needed for the room.

Because each globe is cut and shaped from natural alabaster, the veining, mineral traces and translucency vary between individual pieces — no two Astras look identical when lit. The brushed brass cap and stem give the fitting a warm metallic accent that pairs comfortably with both pale, neutral interiors and warmer wood-and-stone schemes. The 150mm diameter keeps visual weight low, so the pendant works in rooms with lower ceilings without dominating the space.

What bulb does the Astra take?

The Astra uses a single G9 capsule bulb (sold separately). For a warm ambient effect through the alabaster, most customers pair it with a 2700K-3000K G9 LED at around 3-4W.

Can it be hung in multiples over a kitchen island?

Yes. The compact 150mm globe and slim brass stem make the Astra well suited to grouped installations. A common arrangement is three to five pendants spaced 350-450mm apart along a kitchen island, with each drop adjusted to sit 700-800mm above the worktop.

Will every Astra look the same?

No. Each globe is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, tonal variation and translucency differ between individual pieces. This is a feature of the natural material rather than a defect, and is most visible when the lamp is lit.

How is the alabaster cleaned?

Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe the globe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Avoid household sprays, polishes and chemical cleaners, and do not soak the stone — a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable for more stubborn marks.
