Astra 5 Light Alabaster Chandelier - Soft White & Brushed Brass

The Astra is a 400mm five-light alabaster pendant built around a brushed brass central stem with five natural Spanish alabaster globes clustered at the base. Each globe houses a G9 lamp (sold separately), and the alabaster itself acts as the diffuser, softening the light through the stone rather than behind it. The brushed brass canopy and rod give the fitting a slim vertical drop above the cluster.

The compact 400mm diameter suits smaller dining tables, two-seat kitchen islands, breakfast bars and intimate seating areas where a full-size chandelier would dominate. The five globes sit close together rather than spreading outward, keeping the visual footprint contained while still delivering light from five separate sources. Hung at 700-800mm above a table surface, the cluster reads as a single sculptural element rather than five individual lights.

Each alabaster globe is cut from natural Spanish stone, so the veining and milky tonal variation differ from one to the next. The brushed brass framework holds the globes in a tight asymmetric arrangement, with three at the upper tier and two below, giving the cluster a layered profile rather than a flat ring. The brushed finish on the brass reduces glare and pairs the warm metal with the cool translucency of the stone.

What bulbs does the Astra take?

The pendant takes five G9 capsule bulbs, sold separately. Most buyers pair this with warm-white LED G9 bulbs at 2700K-3000K to complement the natural tone of the alabaster, with wattage typically up to 3-4W per LED.

What size room does it suit?

At 400mm diameter the Astra is a compact pendant suited to smaller dining areas, kitchen islands, breakfast bars and intimate seating spaces. For a 6-seat dining table or larger island, a wider multi-light pendant or a pair of Astras would give better light coverage.

Does the alabaster vary between globes?

Yes. Each globe is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so veining, milkiness and translucency differ between individual globes and between pendants. This is a feature of the natural stone, not a defect, and becomes part of the character of the fitting once lit.

How is the drop adjusted?

The brushed brass rod and short chain section can be shortened on installation to set the hanging height. For dining tables the cluster typically sits 700-800mm above the table surface; for general room use it can sit higher with around 2.1m clearance from the floor to the lowest globe.
