Astren Crossed Alabaster Table Lamp - Brushed Brass & Soft White

The Astren is a 620mm alabaster table lamp built around a sculpted crossed-column base cut from natural Spanish alabaster, set on a brushed brass cruciform foot with a matching brushed brass cap and finial at the top. A 380mm soft white drum shade sits above the stone, lined on the inside with a warm gold reflector that bounces light back through the alabaster column. The lamp takes a single E27 bulb (sold separately).

Designed for bedside tables, console tables and styled shelving in living rooms and hallways, the Astren works at a comfortable bedside reading height of around 620mm. The 380mm shade diameter throws ambient light across a 1-1.5m radius, suiting paired use either side of a bed or sofa. The lamp connects via a standard UK plug and inline switch on the cable.

Each alabaster column is cut from a single block, so the natural mineral veining and tonal variation differ between individual lamps. When lit, the stone glows softly from within, giving the base a sculptural decorative presence even before the shade is considered. The combination of warm alabaster, brushed brass hardware and an off-white shade with a gold inner lining suits both classical and modern interiors leaning toward warm neutrals.

What bulb does the Astren take?

The lamp takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. A warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K pairs well with the alabaster base and gold-lined shade for a warm ambient glow.

Does the alabaster glow when the lamp is lit?

Yes. The shade has a gold reflective inner lining that bounces light downward through the alabaster column, so the natural stone glows softly from within and highlights the mineral veining. The effect is subtle rather than dramatic, since the shade carries most of the direct light output.

Does each lamp look identical?

No. Each alabaster column is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, tonal variation and translucency differ between individual pieces. This is a feature of the natural material rather than a defect.

How is the alabaster cleaned?

Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Avoid household sprays, polishes or chemical cleaners, and do not soak the stone with water.
