Description
The Calix is a 660mm alabaster table lamp built around a faceted pillar of natural Spanish alabaster, set on a brushed brass plinth and topped with a soft white fabric drum shade. A single E27 lamp socket sits inside the shade, finished with a polished brass finial. The shade has a gold-toned interior lining, which warms the downward light cast onto the surface below.
Sized for console tables, bedside tables, sideboards and side tables, the Calix works as paired bedroom lighting or as a single ambient source in a living room or hallway. The 380mm shade diameter gives a generous spread of diffused light at sitting eye-level, while the alabaster pillar itself does not light up — the stone reads as a sculptural base rather than a secondary light source. Standard inline switching is via the cable.
Each alabaster pillar is cut from natural Spanish stone, so the veining, mineral patterning and warm tonal variation differ from one piece to the next. The faceted profile catches light along its edges and gives the column a defined geometry rather than a plain cylinder. The brushed brass base, neck collar and ball finial are tonally matched, giving the lamp a coherent metallic accent against the soft white shade and pale stone.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Calix take?
The lamp uses a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. A warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K suits the soft white shade and gold-lined interior, producing warm ambient light without overheating the fabric.
Does the alabaster pillar light up?
No. The bulb sits inside the shade above the pillar, so the alabaster column reads as a sculptural base rather than a secondary glowing element. The light spreads through the shade and is reflected warmly by the gold-toned interior lining.
Does the veining vary between pieces?
Yes. The pillar is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so each lamp shows different veining, mineral patterning and tonal variation. This is a feature of the natural stone, not a defect.
How is the alabaster cleaned?
Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe the pillar with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Avoid water, household sprays, polishes or chemical cleaners, which can mark or dull the surface of the stone.
