Calvex Rounded Alabaster Pendant Light - Soft White & Brushed Brass

The Calvex is a single-lamp alabaster pendant light built around a 150mm rounded shade carved from natural Spanish alabaster, suspended from a brushed brass cable fitting on a black flex. The cushion-like profile measures 130mm tall, with softly curved edges that taper to a flat top and base. A single G9 lamp (sold separately) sits inside the hollowed alabaster shade and casts warm light through the stone walls.

The compact 150mm diameter suits clustered installations over a kitchen island or breakfast bar, where two or three Calvex pendants can hang at staggered drops to create a balanced run of light. It also works as a single fitting above a bedside table, in a hallway, or flanking a vanity mirror, where the small shade size keeps the pendant in scale with tighter spaces. The black flex can be shortened on installation to suit ceiling heights from 2.3m upwards.

Each shade shows different mineral veining and tonal variation depending on the section of stone it was cut from, so no two Calvex pendants look identical when lit. Unlit, the alabaster reads as soft warm white with grey-brown veining; lit, the thicker areas of stone glow more intensely than the thinner sections, revealing the internal structure of the material. The brushed brass cable cap and ceiling rose introduce a quiet metallic accent at the top of the drop without competing with the stone.

What bulb does the Calvex take?

The pendant takes a single G9 capsule bulb, sold separately. A warm-white LED G9 between 2700K and 3000K works well with the natural alabaster, keeping the stone's tonal warmth while running cool inside the shade.

Can it be hung in a cluster?

Yes. The 150mm shade is well suited to grouped installations of two, three or more pendants over a kitchen island or dining table. Each pendant has its own ceiling fitting and flex, so drops can be staggered on installation for a layered look.

Does the alabaster vary between pieces?

Yes. Each shade is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, tonal variation and translucency differ between individual pieces. This is a feature of the natural material, not a defect.

How is the alabaster cleaned?

Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the stone and do not use household sprays, polishes or chemical cleaners.
