Draxen Alabaster Drum Pendant Light - Matte Black & Brass

The Draxen is a compact alabaster drum pendant built around a 160mm diameter shade cut from natural Spanish alabaster, suspended from a slim matte black cylindrical stem with a brushed brass collar at the cable entry. The drum shade has flat vertical sides and a flat base profile, giving the fitting a clean architectural geometry. A single E14 lamp socket sits inside the shade, casting warm light through the translucent stone.

At 230mm tall and 160mm wide, the Draxen suits installations where a smaller pendant is needed: above kitchen islands in clusters of three or five, over breakfast bars, in hallways, beside bedside tables in place of a wall light, or in stairwell groupings at staggered drops. The narrow diameter means several can be hung in a row over a longer worktop without crowding, and the small footprint works in rooms with lower ceilings where a wider drum would feel heavy.

Each alabaster drum shows different veining and tonal density depending on the section of stone it was cut from, with darker mineral lines moving through the soft white body. When the lamp is lit these veins become visible as warmer streaks within the diffused glow. The matte black metal stem provides contrast to the pale stone, and the brushed brass cone at the top of the stem softens the transition into the black flex, adding a small warm metallic accent without competing with the alabaster.

What bulb does the Draxen take?

The pendant uses a single E14 (small Edison screw) lamp, sold separately. A warm-white LED candle bulb between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K gives the most flattering glow through the alabaster.

Can several be hung together over an island or worktop?

Yes. The 160mm shade diameter is intentionally compact, which makes the Draxen well suited to clustering. Three or five units in a row over a kitchen island, or staggered drops in a stairwell, are common installations for a pendant of this scale.

Does each alabaster shade look the same?

No. Each shade is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, mineral density and tonal variation differ between individual pieces. When lit, these natural patterns become more pronounced. This is a feature of the stone rather than a defect.

How is the alabaster cleaned?

Wipe the shade with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Alabaster is porous and softer than marble, so avoid household sprays, polishes and chemical cleaners. For stubborn marks a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but do not soak the stone.
