Drisa Alabaster Globe Wall Light - Matt Black

The Drisa is a single-light wall fitting built around a 120mm globe of natural Spanish alabaster, suspended on a slim drop rod from a matt black horizontal arm and circular wall plate. A G9 lamp inside the alabaster sphere lights the stone from within, turning the globe itself into the diffuser. The 160mm drop is adjustable on installation to suit the position on the wall.

Designed as a decorative accent rather than primary task light, the Drisa suits bedside positions either side of a headboard, hallway pairs flanking artwork or mirrors, and living room walls where a softer secondary light source is needed. The wall plate covers a standard UK back box and the matt black arm projects the globe clear of the wall surface, so the sphere reads as a hanging object rather than a fixed sconce.

The shade is cut from solid Spanish alabaster, with each globe showing its own pattern of beige and grey mineral veining through the soft white stone. The matt black copper frame frames the alabaster cleanly without competing with it, and the contrast between the pale translucent globe and the dark structural elements gives the fitting graphic weight on a plain wall. No two alabaster globes are identical.

What bulb does the Drisa take?

The fitting takes a single G9 capsule lamp, sold separately. A warm-white G9 LED between 2.5W and 3.5W at 2700K-3000K suits the alabaster best, giving a warm glow through the stone without overheating the cavity.

Is the Drisa suitable for bathrooms?

No specific IP rating is listed, so the Drisa should be installed in dry indoor locations only. It is not suitable for bathroom zones or external use.

Does each alabaster globe look the same?

No. Each globe is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, tonal variation and translucency differ between individual pieces. The pattern only becomes fully visible once the lamp is switched on.

How is the alabaster cleaned?

Wipe the globe with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Avoid water, household sprays and chemical cleaners — alabaster is porous and softer than marble, and liquid cleaners can stain or etch the surface.
