Lumenis 1 Light Alabaster Table Lamp - Brass & Soft White

The Lumenis is a 650mm alabaster table lamp built around a solid rectangular block of natural Spanish alabaster, held within an architectural brushed brass frame and topped with a tapered brass stem and white rectangular PVC shade. A single E27 lamp socket sits inside the shade, casting light both downward through the shade and into the alabaster base, where it picks out the stone's internal veining.

The proportions suit console tables, sideboards and larger bedside tables where a horizontal-shouldered lamp reads better than a round one. With a 400mm shade length and 180mm depth, the Lumenis works well in pairs flanking a bed or sofa, and at 650mm tall it sits comfortably above seated eye level on a 450-500mm side table. The E27 fitting accepts standard screw bulbs (sold separately) up to typical 60W equivalents.

The alabaster block is cut as a single piece, so each lamp shows different mineral veining and tonal shifts through the stone. The brass frame wraps the base on two sides in a rectilinear bracket that doubles as the structural support, with a flat brass plinth carrying the weight. The contrast between the warm brass, the cool translucent stone and the crisp white linen-look shade gives the lamp a quiet, architectural presence rather than a decorative one.

What bulb does the Lumenis take?

The lamp uses a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. A warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K pairs well with the alabaster, allowing the stone's veining to glow without overpowering the room.

Is the alabaster veining the same on every lamp?

No. The base is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the mineral veining, tonal variation and translucency differ between individual pieces. This is a feature of the natural stone rather than a defect.

Will it work as a bedside lamp?

Yes, on a larger bedside table. At 650mm tall with a 400mm shade length, the Lumenis suits bedsides of 450-500mm height and at least 450mm depth. It also works well as a pair flanking a bed where a wider, horizontal shade is preferred over a round one.

How is the alabaster cleaned?

Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the stone and do not use household sprays, polishes or chemical cleaners.
