The 660mm overall height places the shade at a useful level beside a sofa or bed, and the soft white shade diffuses light from the E27 bulb evenly across the room while the alabaster panel below picks up a softer secondary glow when lit.

The alabaster panel shows the natural mineral veining and tonal variation of stone cut from a single block, so each Marcellin lamp reads slightly differently. The brass frame is detailed with small offset bracket tabs at the centre of each long edge, lifting the stone off the metal and giving the panel a floating quality rather than sitting flush within the frame. What bulb does the Marcellin take?

The lamp uses a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. A warm-white LED between 6-10W at 2700K-3000K pairs well with the soft white shade and brings out the warmth in the alabaster panel.

Does the alabaster vary between pieces?

Yes. The rectangular panel is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, mineral patterning and tonal depth differ between individual lamps. This is a feature of the natural stone, not a defect.

What size surface does it suit?

With a 400mm shade length and 200mm depth, the Marcellin suits console tables from 800mm long, sideboards, wider bedside tables of 450mm depth or more, and dressing tables. The rectangular shade footprint sits more comfortably against a wall than a circular shade of similar volume.

How is the alabaster cleaned?

Wipe the alabaster panel gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Avoid household sprays, polishes and chemical cleaners, as alabaster is porous and softer than marble. The brass frame can be cleaned with the same dry cloth.
