Monvara Small Monolith Alabaster Floor Lamp - Soft White

The Monvara Small is a 460mm monolith floor lamp carved from a single block of natural Spanish alabaster, presenting as a solid rectangular column with a 400 x 400mm footprint. A single E27 lamp sits inside the hollowed stone, casting warm light outwards through the alabaster walls so the column itself becomes the light source. The soft white finish reads as a clean, near-uniform tone with mineral veining concentrated towards the base.

At 46cm tall, the Monvara Small works as a low-level floor accent rather than a primary lighting source. It suits positions beside an armchair or sofa, at the end of a hallway, in a fireplace recess, or grouped on the floor of a dressing room or bedroom corner. The compact footprint means it slots into spaces where a taller column lamp would dominate, and the absence of a visible bulb or shade lets it sit comfortably below eye level without glare.

Each piece is cut from natural alabaster bonded to a marble base, so the veining, translucency and warm-toned mineral inclusions vary between individual lamps. The amber-brown veining visible at the lower section of this piece is characteristic of Spanish alabaster and intensifies when the lamp is lit. The clean machined edges and unbroken faces emphasise the stone itself rather than any decorative detailing, giving the lamp a sculptural quality whether switched on or off.

What bulb does the Monvara take?

The lamp uses a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. A warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K complements the natural alabaster and brings out the mineral veining without overheating the stone.

Does each lamp look the same?

No. Each Monvara is cut from a natural block of Spanish alabaster, so the veining, translucency and tonal variation differ between pieces. The amber-brown veining visible towards the base is characteristic of the material and becomes more pronounced when the lamp is lit.

Is it suitable as a primary light source?

The Monvara Small is designed as a low-level accent at 46cm tall. It provides ambient floor-level glow rather than overhead or task lighting, and works best alongside other light sources in the room.

How is alabaster cleaned?

Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. For more stubborn marks, use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water. Avoid household sprays, polishes or chemical cleaners, which can stain or etch the surface.
