Description
The Orbelya is a 520mm sculptural table lamp built from three stacked spheres of natural Spanish alabaster, separated by two brushed brass spacer rings and set on a polished brass cylindrical base. A single G9 lamp sits within the column, casting warm light up through the alabaster spheres so the stone itself becomes the diffuser. The overall diameter is 200mm, set by the base.
Suited to console tables in entrance halls, sideboards in living rooms and dressing tables in bedrooms, the Orbelya works as a low-level decorative light rather than a primary task source. Its 520mm height keeps the light below eye level when seated, giving a soft pool of illumination across a surface without glare. The lamp uses a standard UK plug and inline switch arrangement (see Specification for confirmation).
The alabaster spheres show natural veining and grey-toned mineral marks that vary between individual pieces, so no two Orbelya lamps look identical when lit. The brushed brass rings between the spheres carry a softer, matte tone, while the base is finished in a higher-polish brass that catches more reflection at the foot of the column. The contrast between the two brass finishes adds visual rhythm to the stack without breaking the cohesion of the overall colour palette.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Orbelya take?
The lamp uses a single G9 capsule bulb, sold separately. A 3W-4W warm white LED G9 around 2700K-3000K gives the best result, allowing the alabaster spheres to glow without overheating the stone or creating hot spots through the natural veining.
Does each lamp look the same?
No. The three spheres are cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, grey mineral marks and translucency vary between individual pieces. This is a feature of the natural stone, not a defect, and is most visible once the lamp is lit.
Where does the Orbelya work best?
At 520mm tall and 200mm wide at the base, the lamp suits console tables, sideboards, dressing tables and larger bedside tables. It works as a decorative ambient light rather than a reading or task lamp, casting a soft glow at low to mid-level rather than directing light onto a surface.
How is the alabaster cleaned?
Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the stone and never use household sprays, polishes or chemical cleaners on the alabaster sections.
