Orbis Large LED Alabaster Semi-Flush Ceiling Light - Brushed Brass

The Orbis Large is an 800mm alabaster ring semi-flush ceiling light, fixed to the ceiling on three brushed brass mounting points spaced evenly around the circumference. The ring is cut from natural Spanish alabaster and houses an integrated LED behind the upper face, casting warm 3000K light through the stone and outwards onto the ceiling plane. At 160mm in height, the fitting sits close to the ceiling rather than dropping into the room.

Designed for low to standard ceiling heights of around 2.3-2.7m, the Orbis Large suits living rooms, bedrooms, dining areas and wider hallways where a pendant drop would intrude on headroom. The semi-flush mounting and slim profile make it a workable answer to the 'ceiling lights for low ceilings' problem, where a fitting needs visual presence without occupying vertical space. The 800mm diameter calls for rooms of roughly 4m square or larger to keep the proportion balanced.

Each alabaster ring shows different mineral veining and translucency depending on the section of stone it was cut from, so no two pieces appear identical when lit. The brushed brass canopies and stems are made from solid copper with a brushed brass finish, providing a warm metallic accent against the soft white tone of the stone. The combination pairs comfortably with both warm-toned interiors and cooler greys, working as ambient rather than task light.

Is the Orbis Large suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The semi-flush mount sits 160mm below the ceiling, which works well in rooms with ceiling heights from around 2.3m upwards. It avoids the headroom intrusion of a hanging pendant while still providing visual presence.

Does the alabaster vary between pieces?

Yes. Each ring is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, marbling and translucency differ between individual pieces. This is a feature of the natural material rather than a defect, and becomes most visible when the LED is switched on.

What size room does it suit?

How is the alabaster cleaned?

Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Avoid household sprays, polishes and chemical cleaners, and do not soak the stone with water.
