Ovolis Oval Alabaster Table Lamp - Soft White & Black Marble

The Ovolis is a 420mm oval alabaster table lamp built around a single egg-shaped body of natural Spanish alabaster, set on a turned black marble plinth with a slim brass collar between the stone and the base. The alabaster takes a single E14 bulb (sold separately), which lights the stone from within rather than projecting outward, so the oval itself becomes the light source.

The lamp suits bedside tables, console tables in entrance halls, and shelf or sideboard positions where a low, warm ambient glow is wanted in the evening. With a 180mm diameter and 420mm height, the footprint stays compact enough for a standard bedside table while the vertical proportion gives the lamp enough presence to anchor a console or mantel. The E14 fitting accepts standard candle bulbs, golf-ball LEDs and decorative filament lamps up to the rating shown in the Specification tab.

The alabaster body shows the mineral veining and tonal variation typical of natural Spanish stone — soft white through to deeper cream bands, with subtle translucency that becomes most visible when the lamp is switched on. The black marble plinth carries its own veining and is shaped as a stepped column, giving the lamp a small architectural quality without dominating the alabaster above it. The brass collar between stone and base is a thin accent rather than a decorative feature, defining the join between the two materials.

What bulb does the Ovolis take?

The lamp uses a single E14 (small Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. A warm-white LED candle or golf-ball bulb between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K gives the closest match to the soft glow the alabaster is designed to produce.

Does each lamp look the same?

No. Both the alabaster body and the black marble plinth are cut from natural stone, so the veining, tonal variation and translucency differ between individual pieces. This is a feature of the natural materials rather than a defect.

Is the Ovolis suitable as a bedside lamp?

Yes. The 180mm diameter footprint fits comfortably on a standard bedside table, and the alabaster diffuses the bulb into a low, warm glow rather than a directional beam, which suits evening reading or as a low-level night light.

How is the alabaster cleaned?

Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the stone and do not use household sprays, polishes or chemical cleaners. The black marble plinth can be wiped with the same cloth.
