Pilaster Alabaster Column Table Lamp - Matte Black

The Pilaster is a 700mm alabaster table lamp built around a vertical column of natural Spanish alabaster, framed by slim matte black metal uprights and finished with a 380mm soft white fabric drum shade. The alabaster column is the visual core of the piece, showing layered mineral veining and tonal variation that becomes more pronounced once the lamp is switched on. A single E27 lamp socket sits beneath the shade.

Sized for bedside tables, console tables and reading corners, the Pilaster works in rooms with side-table heights of 550-650mm where a 700mm lamp sits comfortably without overshadowing nearby seating. The drum shade pushes light upward and downward to wash the surrounding wall and surface, while the alabaster column itself glows softly between the matte black supports, giving a secondary low-level light below the shade line.

The frame is matte black metal with a low-sheen finish that reads almost graphite under warm light, set on a square base plate that anchors the lamp on narrower surfaces. The alabaster section is cut from solid Spanish stone, so the markings differ between individual pieces and no two columns are identical when lit. The combination of dark metalwork and pale translucent stone gives the lamp a defined architectural silhouette that suits modern, transitional and classical interiors equally.

What bulb does the Pilaster take?

The lamp uses a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. A warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K pairs well with the alabaster column and gives a soft ambient output through the fabric shade.

Does the alabaster glow when the lamp is on?

Yes. The alabaster column is positioned around the lamp socket area and picks up light from the bulb, producing a secondary low-level glow through the stone in addition to the main light cast by the shade. The natural veining becomes visible when illuminated.

Is each alabaster column identical?

No. The columns are cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so mineral patterns, veining and tonal variation differ between individual pieces. This is a feature of the natural stone rather than a defect.

How is the alabaster cleaned?

Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Avoid water, household sprays, polishes and chemical cleaners, as these can stain or etch the surface of the stone.
