Selvara LED Medium Alabaster Wall Light - Matt Black

The Selvara is a 480mm vertical alabaster wall light built around a slim rectangular column of natural Spanish alabaster, mounted to a matte black stainless steel backplate. An integrated 6W 3000K LED runs the length of the column behind the stone, casting warm soft-white light up and down the wall through the alabaster itself. The fitting measures 110mm wide and projects 100mm from the wall.

Designed for indoor walls in hallways, bedrooms, living rooms and stairwells, the Selvara works as accent lighting beside a doorway, flanking a bed as a pair, or running along a corridor at regular intervals. The vertical 480mm format draws the eye up the wall, which suits rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. The matte black backplate fixes to a standard recessed back box and the 230V LED is hard-wired, so no separate driver is visible after installation.

Each alabaster column is cut from a hand-selected block of Spanish stone, so the veining, mineral patterning and translucency vary between individual fittings. When the LED is off, the stone reads as a warm off-white against the matte black metal; when lit, the natural variation in the alabaster becomes visible as soft tonal shifts across the column. The combination of stainless steel and stone gives the fitting a substantial feel without the bulk of a traditional wall light.

Does the Selvara come with a bulb?

The LED is integrated into the fitting, so no separate bulb is needed or supplied. The 6W 3000K LED runs at 230V mains and is built into the unit behind the alabaster column.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

The Selvara does not carry a published IP rating in the supplied specification, so it should be treated as an indoor fitting for dry locations only. It is not suitable for bathroom zones or external use.

Does the alabaster vary between fittings?

Yes. Each column is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so veining, mineral patterning and translucency differ between individual pieces. Pairs ordered together will share a family resemblance but will not be identical, which is a feature of the natural stone.

How is it cleaned?

Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable. Do not use household sprays, polishes or chemical cleaners on the stone, and avoid soaking it.
