Solara Small Sphere Stem Alabaster Wall Light - Brushed Brass

The Solara small sphere stem wall light pairs a natural Spanish alabaster globe with a slim brushed brass stem that drops below the round wall plate to a tapered finial. The 130mm-wide alabaster sphere sits in a brass cradle at the top of the fitting and takes a single E14 bulb (sold separately), giving an overall fitting height of 320mm from the upper mounting point to the tip of the finial.

Designed for hallways, bedrooms beside a headboard, and either side of a bathroom or dressing-room mirror, the Solara works in pairs or as a single accent. The compact 130mm projection from the wall keeps it usable in narrower corridors and tighter spaces where a wider arm sconce would intrude. The two-point fixing — one round plate at the top behind the sphere, one at the base of the stem — stabilises the long brass rod against the wall.

The alabaster globe shows the subtle mineral veining and gentle translucency typical of natural Spanish stone, so each piece varies slightly when lit. Light passes through the alabaster rather than around it, giving a softer, more diffuse glow than a comparable opal glass globe. The brushed brass finish on the cradle, stem and wall plates carries a warm satin tone rather than a high-polish reflection, pairing comfortably with both warm neutrals and deeper painted walls.

What bulb does it take?

The Solara takes a single E14 (small Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. A warm-white LED golf-ball or round bulb between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K works well, allowing the light to glow through the alabaster without overpowering the stone.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

This fitting does not have a stated IP rating, so it is intended for general indoor use rather than zoned bathroom installation. For bathrooms, choose a wall light with a confirmed IP44 rating or higher and observe UK bathroom zone regulations.

Does each alabaster sphere look the same?

No. Each globe is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, tonal variation and translucency differ between individual pieces. This is a feature of the natural stone, not a defect.

How is it fixed to the wall?

The fitting has two mounting points: a round plate at the top behind the sphere and a smaller plate at the base of the stem. Both fix to the wall to stabilise the 320mm brass rod. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
