Solique 1 Light Cylinder Alabaster Wall Light - Brass

The Solique is a compact alabaster wall light built around a single 80mm cylindrical shade cut from natural Spanish alabaster, capped at the top with a slim brass rim and seated in a brushed brass collar above a round wall plate. The fitting measures 260mm tall with a 120mm projection from the wall and takes a single E14 bulb (sold separately), positioned inside the stone cylinder so that light passes through the alabaster itself rather than spilling out around it.

Designed for bedside use, hallway runs and bathroom mirror flanks, the Solique works well in pairs either side of a bed, headboard or vanity unit. The 120mm projection keeps it close enough to the wall to sit comfortably alongside a headboard or doorway without intruding into the room. The round backplate fits standard UK wall boxes and the upright cylinder casts light both up onto the ceiling and softly down across the wall, giving ambient rather than directed illumination.

Each alabaster cylinder is cut from a section of natural Spanish stone, so the veining and tonal variation differ between individual pieces. The brass elements - top rim, lower collar and circular backplate - are finished in a warm brushed tone that picks up the amber notes in the alabaster when the light is on. Combined with the solid copper internal structure, the fitting has a substantial feel for its compact 80mm-wide footprint and reads as a single architectural element rather than a separate shade and bracket.

What bulb does the Solique take?

The fitting takes a single E14 (small Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. A warm-white LED candle bulb between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K pairs well with the alabaster, bringing out the amber tones in the stone without overpowering the diffusion.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The Solique is not listed with a bathroom IP rating in the specification, so it should be installed in dry zones only. For bathroom mirror flanking in a UK installation, please check the IP rating against your bathroom zone before purchase.

Does the alabaster vary between pieces?

Yes. Each cylinder is cut from a section of natural Spanish alabaster, so veining, translucency and tonal variation differ between individual pieces. Buyers ordering a pair for either side of a bed should expect each to look slightly different when lit.

How is the alabaster cleaned?

Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Avoid household sprays, polishes and chemical cleaners, and do not soak the stone with water.
