Stravion Ribbed Alabaster Table Lamp - Black Marble Base

The Stravion is a 350mm-tall alabaster table lamp built around a ribbed cylindrical shade cut from natural Spanish alabaster, set on a solid black marble base. The shade is formed of stacked horizontal bands, each ring revealing a different section of the stone's grey veining. A G9 lamp socket sits inside the shade, with a small black metal cap finishing the top of the cylinder.

At 300mm diameter the Stravion suits console tables, hallway sideboards and bedside tables where a compact decorative lamp is needed rather than a tall reading light. The translucency of the alabaster means the lamp casts a soft, diffused glow through the ribs rather than a directed pool of light, making it better suited to ambient and accent lighting than task work. The black marble base sits flat on any hard surface without need for additional pads.

The two-stone construction gives the lamp a distinct material hierarchy: the dense black marble grounds the design and visually separates the glowing alabaster from the surface beneath. Each shade shows different mineral patterning depending on the section of alabaster it was cut from, so no two Stravion lamps look identical when lit. The horizontal ribbing emphasises the thickness of the stone and catches shadow across the surface even when the lamp is switched off.

Black metalwork between the shade and base is kept deliberately minimal, resolving the transition between marble and alabaster without competing with either material. The result is a sculptural lamp that reads as much as a small object as it does a light source.

What bulb does the Stravion take?

The lamp uses a single G9 capsule bulb, sold separately. A warm-white G9 LED between 2700K and 3000K works best with the natural alabaster, as cooler bulbs can wash out the stone's warm tones.

Does each shade look the same?

No. Each ribbed shade is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, tonal variation and translucency differ between individual pieces. This is a feature of the natural stone rather than a defect.

Where does the Stravion suit best?

At 350mm tall and 300mm in diameter, the Stravion works well on console tables, hallway sideboards, bedside tables and shelving. It produces ambient and accent light rather than directed task light, so it pairs well with a separate reading lamp where needed.

How is the alabaster cleaned?

Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Dust gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Avoid water, household sprays and chemical cleaners on the alabaster shade. The black marble base can be wiped with a barely-damp cloth and dried immediately.
