Velaris 2 Light Double Alabaster Wall Light - Soft White & Black

The Velaris is a 520mm twin alabaster wall light built from two elongated columns of natural Spanish alabaster stacked vertically and joined by a black metal centre band trimmed with two fine brass lines. Each alabaster section houses an E27 bulb (sold separately), giving up-and-down light output through the stone. The fitting projects 110mm from the wall and measures 80mm wide.

Designed for hallways, stairwells, bedrooms and bathroom vanities outside zone 2, the Velaris works as a directional wall light that washes the wall above and below the centre fixing point. The vertical orientation suits narrower wall sections beside doorways, in corridors, or flanking a mirror. Mounting is via the central back plate, which sits behind the black band and conceals the wiring entry to a standard UK wall box.

The alabaster columns are cut from natural Spanish stone, so each piece shows different mineral veining and tonal variation when lit. The black centre band is finished in a low-sheen powder coat with two slim brushed brass detail lines that catch warm light from the bulbs above and below. At 520mm tall the fitting has visible presence on a wall without dominating, and the paired columns balance the proportions of taller rooms or stairwell walls where a single small sconce would feel undersized.

What bulbs does the Velaris take?

The fitting takes two E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, one for the upper alabaster column and one for the lower. Bulbs are sold separately. A warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K suits the alabaster best, as the stone reads warmer with lower colour temperatures.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

This Velaris model does not have a stated IP rating in the specification, so it should be installed outside bathroom zones 0, 1 and 2. It is suitable for bathroom zone 3 and beyond, including over a vanity that sits well clear of the basin and shower area.

Does each alabaster column vary in appearance?

Yes. The columns are cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, tone and translucency differ between individual pieces and between the two halves of the same fitting. This is a feature of the natural stone, not a defect.

How is it mounted to the wall?

The fitting mounts via a back plate concealed behind the black centre band, which connects to a standard UK wall box. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, with the cable feed entering at the centre of the fitting where the band meets the wall.
