Virelux Alabaster Wall Light - Brass

The Virelux is a 470mm vertical wall light built around a rectangular panel of natural Spanish alabaster, held in place by four brushed brass bracket clips at the top and bottom corners. The alabaster sits in front of a brass back plate, which catches the light from a single E27 bulb and reflects it back through the stone. The fitting measures 115mm wide and projects 150mm from the wall.

Suited to hallways, stairwells, bedrooms and either side of a bathroom mirror or fireplace, the Virelux works as wall-mounted accent lighting rather than primary room light. The vertical proportion makes it a practical fit alongside doorways, in narrow corridors, or in pairs flanking a bed or a mantle. The E27 socket accepts standard LED, halogen or filament bulbs (sold separately), so the colour temperature and output can be matched to the room.

Each alabaster panel shows different mineral veining and translucency depending on the section of stone it was cut from, so no two Virelux fittings look identical when lit. The brass back plate and corner brackets are finished in a warm antique-brass tone with a low-sheen surface, contrasting with the softness of the alabaster face. The combination of solid stone and exposed brass detailing gives the fitting a substantial, architectural presence rather than a decorative one.

Does it come with a bulb?

No. The Virelux takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. A warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K matches the tone of the alabaster and brass best.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The Virelux does not have a stated IP rating, so it should be treated as an indoor fitting for dry locations. It is not suitable for installation in bathroom zones where an IP rating is required by UK wiring regulations.

Does the alabaster vary between pieces?

Yes. Each panel is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, mineral patterning and translucency differ between individual pieces. The variation becomes more visible once the fitting is lit and is a feature of the natural material rather than a defect.

How is it cleaned?

Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Avoid household sprays, polishes and chemical cleaners, and do not soak the stone. The brass surfaces can be dusted with the same cloth.
