Virelux LED Alabaster Wall Light - Black & Soft White

The Virelux is a 470mm vertical wall light built around a flat panel of natural Spanish alabaster set into a black brass back box. The alabaster panel is held in place by four black brass brackets at the corners, creating a deliberate gap between the stone face and the frame so light spills around the edges as well as through the panel. The fitting takes a single E27 bulb (sold separately).

Designed for hallways, stairwells, bedrooms and the flanks of fireplaces or feature walls, the Virelux works well as a pair on either side of a doorway, mirror or bed. The 115mm projection from the wall keeps it close to the surface, suiting narrower corridors where deeper fittings would obstruct. At 470mm tall and 150mm wide, the proportions sit comfortably alongside standard 2.4m ceiling heights without dominating the wall.

The alabaster panel is cut from a single section of Spanish stone, so the veining and tonal variation differ between individual fittings. Lit from behind by the E27 bulb, the natural mineral structure of the alabaster reads through the surface as soft cloud-like patterning. The black brass brackets and back box provide a graphic counterpoint to the pale stone, reinforcing the rectilinear geometry of the fitting and pairing comfortably with both contemporary and more traditional architectural interiors.

What bulb does the Virelux take?

The fitting takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. A warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K suits the alabaster panel best, as cooler colour temperatures can read greenish through natural stone.

Does each piece of alabaster look the same?

No. Each panel is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, tonal variation and translucency differ between individual fittings. This is a feature of the natural material rather than a defect, and is most visible once the light is switched on.

How is the Virelux fitted to the wall?

The fitting is hard-wired to a mains supply at the wall and fixed through the rear of the black brass back box. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in line with UK wiring regulations.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The Virelux does not carry a published IP rating, so it is intended for dry interior locations only. It should not be installed in bathroom zones or other damp environments.
